Creation

I think it is important to constantly be creating. Whether it’s artwork, planting flowers, growing a garden, building tables, or writing a blog. Something…anything that shows yourself what you are capable of. Most of the time for me, my creations don’t turn out the way I might have envisioned, but they are stepping stones for learning and improving.

For instance, this blog was originally going to be a podcast. But with some inspiration from someone I know and a realization that I enjoy writing more than talking…hear we are. And maybe some day it will turn into a podcast.

I once learned that you are either creating or consuming. Most of the time we have to consume someone else’s creation to create our own. For instance, you need to purchase a canvas to paint on, purchase seeds to plant, or buy fabric to make a quilt. Creation is a part of life’s cycle. If we are only consumers we lose the ability to contribute to life and society. We absorb knowledge or things from others and never share it with our circle of friends, and if you don’t share it you lose it.

In Matthew 25 Jesus gives the parable of the talents. The person who buried their talent lost it. While those who shared their talents increased them. My hope with this blog is that in sharing my testimony of and relationship with Jesus it will increase and inspire yours to grow too. That is how creation and consumption are designed to work together, hand in hand for perfection.

Creation is also therapeutic and a good way to overcome any trauma that has been endured. My good friend teaches art, sewing, and knitting classes to help people have something to do with their hands. I’ve always had a problem with eating food - mostly sugar - as a way to calm my nervous energy. After my friend told me about this I have been trying to use body movement (like walking or a pedal machine) and an easy craft (like diamond art coasters) to replace munching. I feel much better physically and mentally. The nervous energy is calming down because it isn’t being fed by sugar.

In the spirit of consuming and creating, it has always been a dream of mine to write a song of praise for my Savior. However, I am not musically talented. As most people are fearful of what AI might be capable of, I have used it for good to help me put my feelings into a song. It is the Theme Song you can play at the top of my home page. I hope you enjoy!

We are created to be creative. And so my precious pearls of great worth, what are you going to go create? I would love to hear about it!
